Mailman is the software OIT has chosen to manage email discussion and mailing lists. It allows departments, schools, groups, and other organizations within the University to send messages to targeted sections of the community with more functionality and flexibility than traditional email systems. A school might create a list to advertise events and disseminate relevant information to, for example, all students who are currently majors in that school. A department might create a mailing list that includes all the department's employees.
