We are changing the student virus scan procedure to include the option of re-installing their OS for a fee of $25(in addition to the $10 virus scan fee). We are also requiring anyone who would like us to do a virus scan on their machine to have backed up their data before we accept it for a virus scan and/or OS re-install.

Printing in the Portland State University general access computing labs is regulated by printing quotas. Each user is allocated 500 pages per term that do not carry over to the next term. Users that do not exceed their quota will not incur any charges.
The following is the procedure in use by the departments of Facilities and Planning and the Office of Information Technologies. All types of electronic media follow the same example as illustrated in the flow chart. Media which can not be cleared is stored until it can be properly destroyed. Media that can be cleared is evaluated for redistribution or destruction.
The basic policy is that User Support Services shouldn't phone the Unix team unless absolutely necessary. The majority of requests are made through RT. Urgent requests that can only be handled by the Unix team can be made by calling them. This may include:
Faculty and staff home directories (H: drives) are limited to 10 gigabytes of storage. The H: drive is provided for the storage, transport and backup of files belonging to the owner of the home directory. It is not intended for shared files or as unlimited storage for large amounts of data.
