H1N1 in the Classroom: Alternative Communication Methods

This article lists options for holding classes and communicating remotely, in the event that a class can not meet face to face (such as an H1N1 virus outbreak or other factors).

 

Email - email is one of the easiest resources to use for communicating information to a class. You can setup your own email client or login to http:\\webmail.pdx.edu to use PSU's online email client. For more information click: Email articles

Live online training sessions - Elluminate Live! can be used by faculty and staff to conduct meetings or have presentations online. It is also very usefull for developing material to be added to BlackBoard courses. For more information click: Elluminate Live!

Online courses - Blackboard is a learning management system used for teaching fully online or partially online courses. To get started click here: Blackboard

Online portal - myPSU is a web portal which can be used to setup a home page, file uploading & storage, and facilitates course communications with students via email, online chat,  or announcements through myPSU Course Studio. To get started click: myPSU Course Studio

Record classes and post them online - Echo360 is an automated system that is available in several Distance Learning Center classrooms and will capture audio, video, and your computer’s desktop. Soon after you’ve completed the lecture, the recorded data will be uploaded to a secure server and you will be sent a URL link. To get started click: Echo360
