How can I access my network drives (H:, I:) on OS X 10.3 and earlier (off campus)

This tutorial describes how to connect to network drives off campus with Mac OS X 10.3 and earlier using the application "Goliath".   You can find your operating system version by going to the Apple menu and selecting "About this Mac".
To install Goliath:

  1. Download Goliath from here.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file named "Goliath 1.0.1 Installer" to expand and mount the disk image.
  3. Double-click the Goliath disk image that mounted on your desktop and copy the "Goliath 1.0.1" folder to your Applications folder.
  4. Eject the disk image and put it in the trash.

To use Goliath:

  1. Find the appropriate server address. To determine the server address, see this article:  http://www.oit.pdx.edu/dev/how-can-i-access-my-network-drives-h-i-os-x-campus-or-campus
  2. Enter this address in the "URL" field.
  3. Enter your ODIN account username and password at the prompt.
  4. Click "OK" to connect.

Notes:

  • If choosing to copy and paste the server URL, plase make sure that you copy only up to and including the last character.  It's important not to include any whitespace in the URL.
  • Goliath allows you to store a server connection shortcut which may be saved to the disk to make using Goliath more convenient. However, your password will be stored in this shortcut in plain text which is a security risk and should be avoided.
