PSU domain practices allot third-level domain names only to permanent, official department-level entities (eg, biology.pdx.edu, budget.pdx.edu). Other sites should request domains connected to their sponsoring department or site type. For example, a research project or lab in Biology should request a domain like "projectname.biology.pdx.edu" or "labname.biology.pdx.edu". All student/faculty/staff group sites should request domains like "groupname.groups.pdx.edu" and include statement of official student group status or departmental approval, and sponsor/advisor contact information. Interdisciplinary research sites can request domains like "projectname.research.pdx.edu". If your site is a special case or you are not sure what to request, provide as much information and suggestions as you can and we will contact you to find a good domain.
